Canadair Silver Star

The Canadair CT-133 Silver Star, flown by 418 Squadron from 1956 to 1958, was pivotal in transitioning RCAF pilots to jet-powered flight. This jet trainer was derived from the Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star, America’s first operational jet fighter. In its role with the squadron, the CT-133 was instrumental in providing advanced flight training, equipping pilots with the necessary skills to operate faster and more complex jet aircraft effectively. Its introduction marked a significant technological advancement for the squadron, aligning it with contemporary air force standards and capabilities.
